Window replacement during the pandemic.
Replacement of 550 windows, in a hospital – all while it continued to function. The project itself was already complex and organisationally demanding. In addition, the windows had special aesthetic and functional requirements, with difficulties of installation in eight parts of the building that were to be renovated, not to mention in a newly built wing. The biggest challenge was the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Finstral’s slide-in installation was clearly the key to the project’s success. In this minimally invasive method, the old surrounding frame with its functioning structural joint is retained, with only the sash frame and the fittings removed. The existing surrounding frame is duplicated with a profile inserted from the inside that replaces the frame of the old sash. So, even in the entirely exceptional circumstances of COVID, replacement always proceeded smoothly, thanks also to the professionalism and expertise of the Finstral team.
